Kylie Jenner has responded to claims she dubbed herself a "brown-skinned girl" in an Instagram caption, insisting a photoshopped version of her posts was designed to cause controversy.
A series of photos of Jenner posing in a tight jumpsuit sporting a long dark ponytail and hoop earrings was shared to her 190 million followers with a caption that currently reads "Brown-eyed girl". Some social media users claim the makeup mogul edited the phrase after originally captioning it "brown-skinned girl".
"I never said this," Jenner said in a statement posted to her Instagram Story, along with a side-by-side image of what she says is her original post and a version that's been doctored.
"Here's the fake version that everyone believed," she wrote.
"Saw online someone Photoshopped this photo I posted to change my caption from 'brown-eyed girl' to 'brown-skinned girl'."
Jenner admitted she did edit her caption, which she says originally just contained emojis before she added "brown-eyed girl" a short time later.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also shared comments from fans coming to her defence, claiming they saw the photo as soon as it was posted and no such caption existed.
"Why do people always have to make drama out of everything and invent lies," one person wrote.
The controversy comes just days after Jenner caused a stir with her involvement in Cardi B's hit music video 'WAP'. A petition has been signed by nearly 70,000 people wanting the reality TV star removed from the video after it was labelled a "visual indication of Black women having to do the most and white women having to do the bare minimum to get somewhere".
