Meghan Markle and Jacinda Ardern's friendship detailed in new book

Meghan Markle and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern are said to have built a friendship that sees them stay in regular contact and send each other gifts, according to a new biography.

The pair met during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's tour of New Zealand in 2018 and the authors of the 'bombshell' book Finding Freedom claim they've only become closer since.

Royal commentators Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durrand claim Meghan "regularly wears the earrings Ardern gifted her in New Zealand" - gold feather studs made by Kiwi musician and jewellery maker Boh Runga.

The book also says the two stay in touch via email and mentions that Ardern sent a flower arrangement to Frogmore Cottage after Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed their son Archie last year

During Meghan's visit to Aotearoa, during which she was four months pregnant, Ardern praised her ability to continue to fulfil her royal duties across four countries on the tour.

"Pregnancy is an often-tiring time," Arden told media at the time.

"But the way she gave everything her all was incredible. She's an amazing woman and I'm so glad to have gotten to know her."

Just last month, Meghan praised New Zealand's leader as someone young women could look up to during her speech at the global Girl Up Leadership Summit.

"We can take inspiration from women like Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who brought New Zealand together to swiftly and boldly tackle COVID-19," she told attendees.
