Shapeshifter praises 'incredible' Jacinda Ardern after she drops 'Stars' at Labour campaign launch

Kiwi drum and bass icons Shapeshifter have raved about Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern after she dropped one of their songs during her speech at the Labour campaign launch over the weekend.

Ardern punctuated the climax of her "let's keep moving" address with the track 'Stars' - a moment the dance music outfit said they were "so proud" of.

"Our Prime Minister has led our country through so much pain and strife with strength, grace and empathy," the band wrote on Instagram.

"Our world leader, worthy of all the world's praise."

Ardern is famously a huge fan of Shapeshifter, having raved about her love of their music in interviews and gifted Prince Harry their album The System Is A Vampire when he visited New Zealand in 2018.

"They've just got great energy and they're such nice guys," Ardern told George FM earlier this year.

The Prime Minister and former DJ replied "anything from Shapeshifter" when asked what track she would open with if she were playing a set at a post-COVID-19 lockdown party.
