Demi Lovato and fiancé Max Ehrich split two months after engagement - reports

Demi Lovato and her fiancé Max Ehrich have reportedly broken up just two months after getting engaged.

According to Us Weekly, the pair - who met six months ago - have decided to split after sharing photos of Ehrich's proposal with a diamond ring worth an estimated US$1 million in July.

In her Instagram post at the time, Lovato wrote to Ehrich that she "knew that she loved him the moment she met him".

A source close to the couple reportedly told People the split was a "tough decision", but that the pair wanted to focus on their respective careers.

"They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together," the source said.

According to E! Entertainment, Lovato's fans began speculating something was amiss with the singer's relationship this week when they noticed several of her friends and family members were no longer following Ehrich on social media.

The 'Cool For The Summer' hitmaker also appeared to stop 'liking' Ehrich's posts on Instagram - something she had regularly been doing until recently.

Earlier this month, Lovato responded to a number of screenshots of tweets Ehrich had allegedly posted in 2010 about Lovato and fellow Disney Channel alumni Selena Gomez, in which he wrote that Gomez was prettier than his future-fiancée.

Lovato insisted the images were fake, claiming they were designed to pit her and Gomez against each other.

In a radio interview that aired last week, Lovato said she had started looking at wedding dresses and was considering eloping with Ehrich.

Neither Ehrich nor Lovato have publicly addressed the alleged break-up.
