'I want to give up my selfish desires': Justin Bieber's note on being a 'future dad' causes a stir

Justin Bieber's message about "giving up his selfish desires" in order to be a good "future dad" has fans wondering if a pregnancy announcement is on the way.

The pop star shared a note on Instagram in which he detailed how he allowed "ego and power take over" as his fame grew, having started out as a small town boy from Canada.

"I didn't have material things and was never motivated by money or fame, I just loved music," Justin wrote.

"But as I became a teenager I let my insecurities and frustrations dictate what I put my value in. My values slowly started to change."

The 'Yummy' singer said his relationships suffered as a result, and he now wants to be motivated by "truth and love" and learn from his "blind spots".

But it was Justin's assertion he wanted to "give up his selfish desires daily" to be a "good husband and future dad" that had some followers suspecting his wife Hailey could be expecting a baby.

"So Hailey is pregnant?" one Instagram user wrote, while another simply repeated: "Future Dad?!"

Hailey and Justin have spoken openly about their hopes to start a family one day. Earlier this year, Justin told fans he wanted to have a baby with Hailey after his tour, which was set to end this month before it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, the singer came under fire for a "disgusting" April Fools prank in which he posted a fake ultrasound and photo of his wife in a hospital bed on Instagram in what turned out to be a fake pregnancy announcement.

Many commenters were outraged by the prank, which some argued made light of the fertility issues, miscarriages and stillborn births that affect the lives of many people wishing to be parents.
