The Mandalorian searches the galaxy for Jedi in first season 2 trailer

The first trailer for the second season of Star Wars series The Mandalorian has been released and centres on the addition of the Jedi.

Of course, fan favourite Baby Yoda aka the Child also has a big role in the new video.

New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison stars in season 2 but is not seen in the trailer - at least, not with his helmet off. The Once Were Warriors star played Jango Fett in 2002's Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and is believed to be portraying Boba Fett in the TV show.

Fellow New Zealander Taika Waititi directed the finale of the first season and voiced the IG-11 Droid character, which also isn't seen in the new trailer.

Instead, it focuses on the Mandalorian taking Baby Yoda on a journey - apparently to find the Jedi.

"You expect me to search the galaxy and return this creature to a race of enemy sorcerers?" the title character asks.

"This is the way," replies the Armorer.

Other quintessential Star Wars elements join the Jedi in the trailer, including X-wing and TIE Fighter spaceships.

The Mandalorian season two will premiere on Disney Plus on October 30.
