'Stop trying to Thank You, Next me': Demi Lovato's ex Max Ehrich pleads for her attention, denies break up

Demi Lovato's former fiancé Max Ehrich has denied the pair have broken up, claiming he hasn't even had a phone call with the popstar in a series of erratic Instagram posts.

In the since-deleted Instagram Story, Ehrich writes "please stop trying to Thank You, Next Me," a reference to Ariana Grande's break-up anthem.

Ehrich has been sharing his reaction to his split from Lovato just two months after their engagement, beginning with claims he found out he was dumped by reading a tabloid online.

"Up to this moment, we haven't spoken over the phone. We haven't even officially ended anything to each other. Literally," he wrote in another slide.

"I'm here in real time with y'all. I love Demetria and just want her to be healthy and safe."

Addressing the 'Sorry Not Sorry' singer directly, Ehrich wrote: "If you're reading this... I love you always, unconditionally, no matter what."

They weren't all messages of love, however, as Ehrich also accused his former fiancee of hypocrisy and claimed he was being harassed by her fans.

"If you're going to preach about anti-bullying- Why would you allow someone you love(d) to be bullied by your fans? For what? Telling the truth?" he wrote.

Ehrich also shared several Spotify screenshots showing he was listening to Lovato's music, urging fans to stream her new song 'OK Not To Be OK'.

"The lyrics are incredible. Her voice is impeccable," he wrote, adding: "Give Demetria the GRAMMY SHE DESERVES."

A source close to Lovato reportedly told People Magazine Ehrich had been made aware of the split and the fact that the press would be picking up the story.

The singer has not yet publicly addressed the situation, but she did repost a scene from Cool Runnings in which one of the characters is told: "I see pride! I see power! I see a badass mother, who won't take no crap from nobody!"

One of Lovato's friends had tagged her in the clip, suggesting it might be a thinly veiled reference to her and Ehrich's split.

The popstar also shared a list titled "I Knew I Was Healing When", which included things like "I enjoyed alone time" and "I set boundaries and when people didn't respect them, I knew they were clearing space for those who did".
