Benee leads female-heavy line-up of Wellington's inaugural Peachy Keen festival

A new festival will be coming to Wellington's Basin Reserve on April 3 next year bringing with it a decidedly female-centric line-up of musical acts.

Peachy Keen festival promises a mix of some of Aotearoa's most well-established female artists alongside a range of up-and-coming Kiwi women in music.

The gig will be headlined by Benee and will also welcome back to the stage several household names including Stellar, LadyHawke, Ladi6 and Gin Wigmore.

The Beths, Paige, Chelsea Jade, Foley and Kita round out the rest of the line-up, which festival creator Amber Mossman said she curated in hopes of presenting a standout festival experience for Kiwi gig-goers.

"I love the live music scene here in New Zealand and we are normally spoilt for choice over the summer months with festivals bringing in some of the biggest international acts our shores have seen," Mossman said in a statement.

"When looking at the line-ups for 20/21, I noticed they all had very similar offerings. Although stacked with very talented artists, I felt there was nothing that really stood out for me so I decided to curate a line-up of artists that my friends and I loved."

Tickets go on sale on Thursday November 12.
