'Enjoy living Westside': Outrageous Fortune house being demolished to make way for seven new homes

The iconic West family home made famous by the hit television series Outrageous Fortune is set to be knocked down to make way for a group of new homes.

Pre-sales for seven new houses to be built on the lot at 85 Royal View Road, Te Atatu South are already underway, with the online listing featuring a still from the TV show showing Wolf West in front of the house.

The West Auckland property returned to Kiwi screens for the Outrageous Fortune spinoff show Westside, but with filming of the final season wrapped and the last episodes currently being broadcast on Three, the house is no longer required for production.

"Now is the time for you to be able to secure your own piece of this iconic West Auckland property," the listing for the lot reads.

"You could be the first to choose and secure your own stunning, brand new home, and enjoy living Westside."

There will be five two-bedroom terraced houses, one two-bedroom standalone house and one three-bedroom standalone house developed.

"Designed to reflect the history that this fantastic property holds, these quality homes are to be built with discerning style and comfortable family living in mind.

"All generously sized, North facing with big floor to ceiling windows and bathed in light, beautifully elevated, with sweeping views of the West, and plenty of privacy in your own courtyard."

The house has become a tourist attraction for Outrageous Fortune and Westside fans over the years, with viewers seeking out the spot to take photos on the lawn or the balcony.

The news prompted anger and despair when shared on the George FM Facebook page, with one commenter asking: "Where are you Heritage New Zealand?"

"We need to get pics before it's gone!" said another.

"That's a part of NZ history," wrote a third.
