Petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 passes a million signatures

Although Johnny Depp recently lost a libel case in Britain against a tabloid that called him a "wife-beater", many apparently continue to believe he was the victim and Amber Heard was the abuser.

The actor was fired by Warner Bros from the next Fantastic Beasts film as a result of the court ruling, but a petition calling for the company to have Heard booted off Aquaman 2 continues to grow, having now surpassed 1 million signatures.

She appeared as Mera, the princess of Xebel, in 2017 film Justice League before reprising the role alongside Jason Momoa in 2018's Aquaman.

The Change.org petition demands she not return in the next sequel, set for release in 2022.

"As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project," the petition states.

"They must not ignore the suffering of Heard's victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser."

The petition alleges Heard "fabricated" stories of being physically abused by Depp, despite the recent UK court ruling there was enough evidence to support Heard's claims.

"Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women," it continues.

"This must be recognised, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.

"Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2."

Warner Bros has not commented on the petition.
