'I love my body and I'm still fat': Lizzo claps back at critics of her 10-day smoothie detox

Lizzo has responded to online backlash after sharing the results of her smoothie detox on Instagram, declaring: "I did not starve myself."

Social media users expressed their disappointment after the 'Truth Hurts' singer shared clips of her drinking only smoothies and juices, supplemented with the odd protein bar or snack of sliced fruit for ten days.

Some fans were upset to see the normally body positive star - who uses the Instagram handle @Lizzobeeating - posting before and after photos showing her weight loss results.

"I detoxed my body and I'm still fat. I love my body and I'm still fat. I'm beautiful and I'm still fat," Lizzo captioned a topless snap of herself in response to the criticism.

"These things are not mutually exclusive. To the people who look to me, please do not starve yourselves. I did not starve myself. I fed myself greens and water and fruit and protein and sunlight."

The three-time-Grammy-winner also addressed the controversy in a video shared to her Instagram Story, explaining that "November stressed her the f**k out" and had affected her health.

"I drank a lot, I ate a lot of spicy things and things that f**ked my stomach up. And I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was," she said.

"I'm so proud of myself, I'm proud of my results, my sleep has improved, my hydration, my inner peace, my mental stability, my f**kin' body, my f**kin' skin, the whites of my eyes.

"Like, I feel and look like a bad bitch. And that's it. I'm a big girl who did a smoothie detox. And I wanted to share that with you guys. I got exactly what I wanted out of it, and every big girl should do whatever the f**k they want with their body."

It's not the first time Lizzo has bitten back at online commentators. In June, she responded to body shamers by posting her workout regime online, along with a fiery message.

"So next time you wanna come to somebody and judge them, whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonald's or work out or not work out, how about you look at your own f**king self and worry about your own goddamn body."
