Azealia Banks left her Instagram followers shocked and disturbed after she filmed herself exhuming the body of her dead pet cat before cooking it in a pot on the stove to "bring it back to life".
The controversial rapper shared a series of since-deleted videos that began with her digging up a bag that appeared to contain her deceased cat Lucifer. The '212' hitmaker can be heard laughing before exclaiming: "The cat... is in the bag."
Banks - who has frequently referred to herself as a witch - explained in another clip that Lucifer had died three months earlier.
"We had to put him in the ground, and we're digging him up for the very first time. She's coming back to life c***t!" she reportedly said.
Banks reportedly captioned the post: "Lucifer. 2009-2020. My dear kitty. Thank you for everything. A legend. An icon. Forever a serval serve."
Banks' seemingly boiled the pet in a large pot of water, which she stirred to reveal the animal's fur and bones. Another image of a decomposed cat's skull was captioned "she's ready" before being deleted.
Appalled social media users responded with a wave of memes and messages of disgust, including assertions that Banks was mentally unstable.
"Azelia is not well. That's it really," wrote one Twitter user.
"Just saw the video of Azealia Banks digging up her cat and cooking it on my timeline... I think that's enough Twitter for me today. I'm logging out," said another.
"Sad and disgusting," wrote a third.
It's not the first time the rapper has horrified onlookers with her treatment of animals. In 2016, she came under fire after sharing a video of her cleaning out a cupboard drenched in blood and covered in feathers, which she had apparently been using to sacrifice chickens for "three years".
When criticised by fellow music artist Sia for killing animals for personal gain, Banks bit back: "Have some f**king respect for my f**king traditional African religion you pompous white bitch."
