MAFS AU groom James Susler scolded after 'joking' he's in love with another woman

Married At First Sight Australia groom James Susler got himself into hot water during a commitment ceremony when he revealed he was in love with another woman in the latest episode.

Susler dropped a bombshell to wife Joanne Todd which turned out to be a poor taste joke - one that didn't go down well with the experts.

"I think I'm just gonna come clean and say something to you," Susler said to Todd.

"I can't deny it anymore. I'm in love with another woman," he continued, dropping jaws around the room.

"Can I tell you who it is?" he asked.

"Is it someone in the experiment?" Todd asked, before being told by her husband: "Yeah, it's Alessandra," the show's resident sexologist.

Todd shook her head in disbelief as her husband strolled across the room and planted a kiss on the cheek of Alessandra Rampolla, who also appeared to be deeply unimpressed.

"Why is he making a joke out of that?" Todd asked the experts and her fellow contestants.

"I don't get the joke," Rampolla responded.

"I think it's incredibly disrespectful to Jo, who's sitting next to you," she continued.

Despite Susler's insistence that he was simply "trying to lighten the mood" and "only joking", his gag fell flat.

"It's not a good joke," Rampolla admonished Susler.

"That was really not a funny joke," Todd reiterated to her husband.

Susler later revealed that he had written 'leave' for his commitment ceremony decision, while Todd had written stay, meaning the couple would remain in the experiment.

"You just took the piss out of an expert on the show. It wasn't even funny," Todd later told her husband.
