Prince Harry wrote a 'deeply personal' note to 'very hurt' Prince Charles ahead of Prince Philip's funeral - reports

Prince Harry reportedly penned a "deeply personal" letter to his father Prince Charles ahead of his return to the UK for the funeral of Prince Philip.

According to The Sun, sources close to the Duke of Sussex say he reached out to his "very hurt" dad after their relationship hit "rock bottom" following Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey

Harry reportedly "didn't know what to expect" before reuniting with the Royal Family having relocated to Los Angeles and wanted to "try and set things straight".

"Tensions are still running high and things haven't exactly ironed out the way he had hoped," the source told The Sun.

"There had been a kind of unspoken agreement between everyone to park whatever has been on each person's mind and solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip's funeral."

Harry allegedly felt he was "forced to write letters" to his father because communication had broken down completely in the year since Megxit took place. In his note, he was said to have "outlined his reasons for leaving", but promised to "respect the institution going forward".

In conversation with Oprah, Harry said he had felt "let down" by his father, who he claimed at one stage stopped returning his calls. He said his family had cut him off financially and removed his security detail, leaving him confused and worried for the safety of his family.

"He knows what pain feels like, and Archie's his grandson," Harry told Oprah of his father.

"I will always love him, but there's a lot of hurt that's happened. And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship."

Meanwhile, Harry said that his brother William was "trapped" in the monarchy, that the pair were on "different paths" and needed space and time to "heal" their relationship.

Hopes were raised that tensions may have begun to thaw between the brothers when they were spotted walking side by side after their grandfather's funeral.

The siblings were said to have met with their father for a "two-hour-long peace talk" after the ceremony, however, Charles has now left to his home in Wales, while Harry is rumoured to be staying in London to be with The Queen on her upcoming birthday.
