Australian reality television star Brynne Edelsten has allegedly been caught in possession of magic mushrooms, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and a purportedly stolen electric bike at a Melbourne property, according to local police.

The socialite is now facing criminal charges related to possessing, trafficking and using meth - as well as dealing in property suspected of being the proceeds of crime - after she was arrested in the eastern suburb of Boronia on May 11.

Edelsten, 38, was allegedly visiting the property when police executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

In a statement to 7News, Victoria Police said officers seized "what is believed to be magic mushrooms, methylamphetamine [more commonly known as methamphetamine], prescription drugs and an allegedly stolen electric bike" in the raid of the Hazelwood Rd property.

A 39-year-old man was also arrested and charged with trafficking methylamphetamine, attempting to traffick alprazolam, more commonly known as Xanax, possessing methylamphetamine, possessing schedule 4 poison, and dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

According to the outlet, the socialite has posted bail and will appear before Ringwood Magistrates' Court on October 8. The 39-year-old man has already appeared before court and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on August 3.

But Edelsten has vowed to fight the charges, calling the accusations "shocking".

In a statement to the Melbourne-based daily newspaper the Herald Sun, Edelsten said she was "shocked and saddened" by the allegations and will "vigorously" contest her charges in court.

"I am very thankful for the support of the team around me and will not be making any further comment," she said.

The 38-year-old was married to Australian medical entrepreneur and millionaire Geoffrey Edelsten, 78, for four years before filing for divorce in 2014, claiming her "publicity-obsessed" husband had been unfaithful.

In 2016, the unpaid legal fees from the messy divorce led Edelsten to declare bankruptcy.

On Monday, Geoffrey Edelsten spoke out about the charges, telling Daily Mail Australia his ex-wife had "a battle on her hands".

He added that he hadn't "spoken to her in two years" and did not plan to reach out to his former spouse after hearing of the allegations.

Edelsten, who is originally from the United States, has appeared in a number of small screen series, including the eleventh season of Australia's Dancing with the Stars in 2011.

She later starred in her own reality television show, Brynne: My Bedazzled Life, followed by an appearance in Celebrity Splash. Her reality show returned for a second series in 2014, retitled Brynne: My Bedazzled Diary.

The socialite has also been cast in Channel Seven's upcoming second season of SAS Australia, which will air later this year.
