Louis Walsh says Britney Spears was so medicated she would routinely collapse on X Factor set in 2012

Music manager and former X Factor judge Louis Walsh claims Britney Spears was so heavily medicated on the set of The X Factor in 2012 she would routinely collapse in her seat.

In an interview with The Irish Times, Walsh said he "felt sorry" for the pop star during his brief stint judging the talent show alongside her, saying "she wasn't there mentally".

"I was sitting with Britney for two days and after every few auditions she would go..." he said, slumping over to demonstrate her collapse.

"They would literally have to stop the show and take her out because she was on so much medication and other stuff. I felt sorry for her."

Walsh mused that despite Spears' astronomical levels of fame, she clearly wasn't coping.

"Here she was, the biggest pop star on the planet, and she was just sitting there physically, but she wasn't there mentally. She had a lot of problems."

In 2019, it was reported Spears had told a judge her father Jamie Spears had forced her to take drugs and enter a mental health facility against her will during the 'Toxic' singer's legal battle against his conservatorship.

Her claims, allegedly backed by her mother Lynne Spears, were part of an argument to amend the 2008 ruling that saw her father take control of her personal and financial affairs after a series of public breakdowns.

Asked whether Spears should have been receiving professional help rather than appearing on the X Factor in 2012, Walsh said: "She was getting millions of dollars to do it, so why the f**k wouldn't she sit there?"
