MAFS AU villain Dean Wells reveals staggering sum paid for nightclub appearances

Married At First Sight AU groom Dean Wells revealed how much he used to get paid for nightclub appearances following his run on the controversial reality show in 2018.

During an episode of his podcast Dangerous Ideas with Deano which was largely devoted to the defence of the "straight white male", Wells discussed the perks of his reality TV stardom with fellow MAFS villain Bryce Ruthven.

"After MAFS, I was getting paid five grand a night to go to a nightclub, party, full VIP," Wells said.

"They'd send a limo to pick you up, you're just owning the whole club, everybody wants to party with you.

"It was some of the wildest nights I've ever had."

Both Ruthven and Wells shared that they had been physically attacked while out on the town, likely by angry fans who recognised them from the show.

"I was involved with a coward's attack," revealed Ruthven who said he had his teeth smashed from the punch, while Wells agreed: "It happened to me too, bro."

"A couple of times people just came at me from out of nowhere at a nightclub," he said.

"I say to those guys: 'What are you even doing watching that show for one, secondly, you're getting that emotionally invested that you're going to try and beat up one of the characters?'"

"I don't think people realise how much being the main villain on MAFS puts a target on your back," Wells added.

"Everywhere you go, someone wants a piece of you."
