Britney Spears spotted with engagement ring after claiming conservatorship prevented her from marrying

Britney Spears has been spotted wearing what looks to be a diamond engagement ring as her battle against the conservatorship helmed by her father wages on.

In paparazzi pictures obtained by the Daily Mail, 39-year-old Spears and her 27-year-old boyfriend Sam Asghari were snapped driving to pick up coffee at Starbucks, with the popstar flashing an unmistakably shiny rock on her ring finger.

The 'Toxic' singer was behind the wheel, having complained to a Los Angeles court that she hadn't been allowed to "own her money" and "drive with her boyfriend" due to the restrictions put in place by the legal agreement that has seen her dad oversee her personal and financial affairs since 2008.

Even more shockingly, Spears claimed she had been prevented from removing an IUD in order to stop her falling pregnant despite her desire to have another baby, and was not allowed to marry Asghari, who she has been dating since 2016.

"I would like to progressively move forward and I want to have the real deal," Spears said in court.

"This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life! I've worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two-to three-year break and do what I want to do."

Spears tearfully insisted she wanted her father Jamie Spears charged with conservatorship in her most recent hearing, having previously said she wanted to see him jailed. She's also since called out other members of her family on social media, including her sister Jamie Lynn Spears

The singer, who is mother to sons Sean, 15 and Jayden 14, has recently won the right to choose her own lawyer, making it the first time she's had a say in her legal representation in 13 years.

In one of her many recent Instagram posts, Spears said she had "got a lot off her chest last week," adding, "I said what I needed to say".

"Life goes on."
