The Project NZ host Kanoa Lloyd welcomes baby Nikau Iris

Kanoa Lloyd has welcomed a baby girl with her husband Mikee Carpinter.

The Project NZ host announced the new arrival on Instagram, sharing two images of her daughter Nikau Iris on Friday.

"No offence to other babies, but she's pretty much the best baby. Her favourite things are: being a smoosh, having a snuzzle, cuddles with Mikee and feeds with Mum," she wrote.

"She's probably gonna get into Rugby 7s and Kayaking pretty soon, so we'll keep you updated on her blossoming career.

"We can’t believe we get to keep her! Babies rule!"

Lloyd told Newshub she and Carpinter were "stoked, tired and delirious, not 100 percent sure if it's real, but so so stoked".

"We kind of want to keep all the midwives and nurses we've met at Auckland Hospital and Birthcare. They have all been incredible," she added.

"Luckily we've got amazing friends and family to go home to. Some very excited whānau waiting for cuddles!"

Lloyd announced she and Carpinter were expecting their first baby during an episode of The Project NZ in March. "I am leaving The Project... on maternity leave!" she joked at the time, the audience erupting into gasps and applause.

"I feel very lucky to be able to say that I'm becoming a māma this year, and that this cool guy gets to be a cool dad!" she wrote on Instagram shortly after her pregnancy announcement.

"Nau mai haere mai lil bubba," she captioned the snaps of her cradling her bump with Carpinter by her side.
