Jessie J reveals heartbreaking miscarriage, insists she'll still play show in LA a day later

Jessie J has revealed she's suffered a miscarriage after deciding to have a baby on her own.

The 'Price Tag' singer shared the devastating news on Instagram, saying she was intending to keep her pregnancy a secret at her upcoming show in Los Angeles before going for a scan and being told there was no longer a heartbeat.

"Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying 'seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I am pregnant'," she captioned an image of her holding a positive pregnancy test on Instagram.

"By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down. After going for my third scan and being told there was no longer a heartbeat.

"This morning I feel like I have no control of my emotions. I may regret posting this. I may not. I actually don't know," she continued.

Jessie J insisted she would still perform later in the evening because her "soul needs it".

"I want to sing tonight. Not because I'm avoiding the grief or the process, but because I know singing tonight will help me," she wrote.

"I have done two shows in two years and my soul needs it. Even more today. I know some people will be thinking 'she should just cancel it'.

"But in this moment I have clarity on one thing. I started singing when I was young for joy, to fill my soul and self love therapy, that hasn't ever changed and I have to process this my way."

The Grammy nominee revealed she had decided to become a solo mum because it was "all she'd ever wanted" and "life is short".

"To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again," she wrote.

"I'm still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I am strong, and I know I will be OK."

Jessie J said she wanted to be "honest and true" and "not hide what she was feeling", and that she felt explaining her feelings online before the show was "safer" than making a "tearful emotional speech" at the show that night.

"So I will see you tonight, LA. I may crack less jokes but my heart will be in the room."

A month ago, Jessie J revealed she had split from her partner Max Pham, who she had been dating for seven months. She was previously in a relationship with actor Channing Tatum between 2018 and 2020.
