  • 25/11/2021

The finalists have been announced for the 2021 New Zealand Television Awards with a total of 117 nominations across 37 judged categories.

Discovery NZ, which owns Three and Newshub, received a total 26 nominations, including nods for Patrick Gower, Mihingarangi Forbes, Best News Coverage and Best Current Affairs Programme for The Hui.

Patrick Gower, Tova O'Brien and The Hui's Mihingarangi Forbes are all finalists for Best Presenter News And Current Affairs, while Michael Morrah is nominated for Reporter of the Year, along with Forbes.

The Newshub's Leaders Debate and Morrah's reporting on COVID-19 Testing earned two Best News Coverage nods, while the Aotearoa Music Awards 2020 is nominated in the Best Live Event Coverage category.

Meanwhile, The Hui received a second nomination for Te Māngai Paho Best Māori Programme.

Three also received nominations for season two of David Lomas Investigates, Match Fit, Taranaki Hard and The Gulf, while Antonia Prebble scored a Best Actress nod for Westside.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 New Zealand Television Awards gala has been postponed - the winners will be announced on March 1, 2022 at an event held at Auckland's Shed 10 and hosted by comedian Thomas Sainsbury.
