Prince Charles addresses Queen Elizabeth's health as concerns for her wellbeing grow

Prince Charles has provided an update on Queen Elizabeth's health after Britain's longest-reigning monarch was forced to cancel several public appearances.

The Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker-Bowles are undertaking their first overseas tour since the COVID-19 pandemic began and were visiting Jordan when asked how the Queen was doing.

"She's all right, thank you very much," Charles said in an interview with Sky News at an event focusing on environmental issues.

"Once you get to 95, it's not quite as easy as it used to be," he added, before quipping: "It's bad enough at 73", referring to his own age.

Concerns about the Queen's wellbeing were first raised when she began using a walking stick while attending engagements in October.

She then cancelled a scheduled trip to Northern Ireland on the advice of doctors, before being admitted to hospital for a night to undergo "preliminary investigations" later that same week.

A statement from Buckingham Palace at the time insisted the monarch was "in good spirits" and was "disappointed" about missing her visit.

More recently, the Queen missed what was supposed to be her return to public events due to a sprained back and was unable to attend the Remembrance Sunday Service at the Cenotaph on November 14.

In 2022, the Queen is due to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, marking the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II coming to the Crown. It will be the first time a British monarch has reached the milestone and a large number of celebrations are planned.
