Donald Trump unleashes on Meghan Markle, accuses her of being 'disrespectful' of Queen, manipulating Prince Harry

Former US President Donald Trump has unleashed on Meghan Markle, accusing the now-America-based Duchess of Sussex of being disrespectful of the Queen and manipulating Prince Harry.

Trump's interview with British broadcaster GB News is yet to air, but a promo for the show features the former President saying he has never liked the Duchess of Sussex.

"I'm not a fan of hers. I think she's very disrespectful to the Queen, who's such a great woman, such a great person, a historic person," Trump told interviewer and former UKIP political leader Nigel Farage. "'I think she's very disrespectful to the Royal Family and most importantly to the Queen."

According to Britain's The Daily Mail, Trump also said "Harry has been used horribly" and the Duke of Sussex would someday "regret it".

Trump, who was unable to secure re-election against Joe Biden last November, told Farage that it was "very inappropriate" for Meghan to be discussing US politics considering her royal title.

This has been a cause of ire for many commentators and British constitutional experts, who have called for Meghan to be stripped of her title for getting involved in politics which royals stay out of.

Ahead of the 2020 election, Piers Morgan said Meghan and Harry couldn't remain royals while they "spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way". That came after Meghan appeared at an event launched by former First Lady Michelle Obama and spoke about the need for "change".

In October, Meghan wrote an open letter to the US Congress calling for universal paid parental leave. She also rang certain Republican politicians to advocate for them to support the policy.

Trump has long been critical of Meghan, who previously called him misogynistic and divisive. While in the White House he called her both "very nice" and "nasty" and said it was "sad" when Harry and Meghan decided to leave their senior roles in the royal family without first informing the Queen.

When it was reported the pair were going to relocate to the United States, Trump tweeted that the US would not be paying for their security protection. That's despite the couple never asking.

There has been speculation Meghan may make a run for the presidency in 2024, which Trump is also considering. Earlier this year, Trump said he hopes to see her run.

"I hope that happens because if that happened then I think I'd have an even stronger feeling towards running. I'm not a fan of hers."
