Billie Eilish's brother Finneas says Jacinda Ardern's COVID-19 response 'inspires him', makes him 'hopeful'

Award-winning US musician and producer Finneas has heaped praise upon Jacinda Ardern's response to the COVID-19, saying it has personally affected him.

The brother of pop star Billie Eilish, responsible for collaborating on his sister's biggest hits, shared his thoughts on the New Zealand Prime Minister's management of the pandemic with his 556,000 Twitter followers.

"Watching Jacinda Ardern govern NZ over the past 22 months has been one of the few things that has truly inspired me and made me feel hopeful about the future," he said.

In an earlier tweet, he wrote: "Not getting vaccinated against Covid is the weirdest hill to literally die on."

Finneas' sentiments garnered mixed responses from his Kiwi followers.

"Ayo that's my Prime Minister," one Twitter user replied. "We love her."

"They are all doing incredible work, under ridiculous pressure, and I am so appreciative and respectful of their efforts," said another.

"I'm framing this and putting it on my desk at work," a third wrote.

Meanwhile, some used the opportunity to air their grievances with the Government's handling of the situation, claiming their freedoms had been violated.

"'Watching' from afar and living under Ardern's regime are clearly two vastly different experiences," one Twitter user wrote.

"Nice to know how 'inspired' you have become. Some NZers however are less than enamoured with her govt's efforts to limit movements and freedoms of NZ citizens."

"Are you drunk?" another person asked.

Finneas' even more famous sister Billie Eilish spoke to The Project NZ amid the pandemic last year, declaring she "loved New Zealand" and "wished she was there".

In December, she revealed to Howard Stern that she had battled COVID-19 herself, believing she "would have died" if she hadn't been vaccinated against the deadly virus.

Eillsh and Finneas are set to visit Aotearoa later this year to play three shows at Auckland's Spark Arena in September.
