Nick Cannon has announced he will become a father for the eighth time almost two months after losing his 5-month-old son to brain cancer

Cannon shared the news on his eponymous talk show, calling his model girlfriend Brie Tiesi "the next mother". The former Wild 'N Out star said the pair would be having a boy.

"This whole process is extremely difficult for me because I've known about Bre's pregnancy for a while now, even before my youngest son, Zen, passed in December," he said.

"And so even going through all that, this was always in the back of my mind like, 'When is the right time? How do I share this?' . . . it kept me up at night."

Cannon has already fathered seven children with various women, including Alyssa Scott, Abby De La Rosa, Brittany Bell and Mariah Carey, with whom he shares twins.

"I have a lot of children and I love them all dearly, sincerely and every single one of my children are just as special as the other. It's never a competition," Cannon assured his studio audience.

"At the end of the day, when a life comes into this world, it's a celebration and I'm excited, I'm happy, and y'all gonna go with me on this entire journey."

In October last year, Cannon claimed he was entering a period of celibacy, declaring: "I'm going to see if I can make it to 2022."

"I have enough children, enough frolicking, I'm good right now," he told Revolt's Drink Champs
