Acclaimed Australian drama The Newsreader premieres in New Zealand on Thursday night at 8:30pm on new Discovery channel eden.
The show stars Anna Torv in the lead as a newsreader in 1986 who forms an unlikely bond with a young TV reporter as they cover events such as the shock of the Challenger explosion, the hype of Halley's Comet and complexities of the AIDS crisis.
Torv won Best Lead Actress for the role at the 11th AACTA Awards, where The Newsreader led nominations and also won Best Drama Series, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, Best Direction in a Drama or Comedy and Best Production Design in Television.
The Project NZ got Newshub's own newsreader Mike McRoberts to interview Torv about the show before its premiere in Aotearoa.
