Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly confirmed he has donated money to multiple humanitarian aid charities that are supporting the people of Ukraine as it is attacked by Russia.

However, the Hollywood A-lister has denied donating US$10 million to the Ukrainian military, as was reported in a tabloid this week.

"Leo had privately made several donations to humanitarian groups - CARE, IRC, UNHCR and Save the Children. All directed at Ukraine," an unnamed source supposedly close to the actor told People.

"He had been watching things unfold and wanted to support Ukraine the best he could. He will continue to support the humanitarian groups on the ground which are helping the people of Ukraine.

"He stands with Ukraine and will continue to support [the nation]."

Meanwhile, photos of the Titanic star and Russian President Vladimir Putin smiling with one another at a meeting have resurfaced online amid Russia's attacks on Ukraine, including in The Guardian.

"Leonardo DiCaprio purred at his fellow feline lover during a big-cat conservation summit in 2010," wrote Phil Hoad in the article, which also mentions the likes of Sharon Stone, Oliver Stone, Kevin Costner, Kurt Russell, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Segal.

DiCaprio and Putin met after a concert to mark the International Tiger Conservation Forum at the Mikhailovsky theatre in Saint Petersburg.

At the time the actor pledged US$1 million to save tigers.
