AM's roving weather presenter William Waiirua has tested positive for COVID-19 right before he was meant to go live on air.
Host Melissa Chan-Green revealed that Waiirua returned a positive test halfway through Friday morning's show.
"Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed something a little different with our weather report just then," Chan-Green said. "Because William Waiirua was out for us this morning and was going to be heading along to the Dancing With The Stars studio and..."
"He's got COVID," AM host Ryan Bridge interrupted.
Bridges said Waiirua tested negative before work but then tested positive just before he went to do his live cross.
Waiirua has gone home to isolate and rest.
