Howard Stern slams 'overacting narcissist' Johnny Depp as his court doodles go viral

Outspoken US radio star Howard Stern is the latest celebrity to criticise Johnny Depp amid his defamation trial against former wife Amber Heard.

It comes as the Mortdecai star is going viral for doodling pictures in court, to the delight of his 'Team Johnny' support group of online fans.

Stern accused Depp of "overacting" during the trial, much of which is being broadcast live, saying the actor is a "huge narcissist" who wanted it.

"He wanted that televised [because] that's what narcissists do - they think they can talk their way out of everything," said Stern, according to The Wrap.

"On the narcissism scale, I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist... he figured 'I'll put this on TV, and because I'm so persuasive and I'm so smart, and I'm such a wonderful guy.'

"But that's what narcissists do. 'I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.' No you won't! This will not go well."

Stern also mocked Depp's accent, accused him of "stumbling" during his testimony and added "he's so overacting because he's writing his own material as he goes along".

But the shock jock didn't have kind words for Heard either.

"It's not going well for you, it's not going well for her. It's not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children," he said.

Meanwhile, some of Depp's quirks are also making headlines as the trial stretches into its second week in the US state of Virginia.

On Wednesday morning (local time) he pulled up to court in a black SUV blaring Bob Marley's 'Exodus' as fans waited for him, according to the Daily Mail.

A TikTok clip capturing Depp handing his lawyer a sketch inside the courtroom is also being widely shared. The actor has been seen doodling in court and his drawing captured in the TikTok video appears to be complimented by his lawyer, Benjamin Chew.

At the time of publishing, the video has more than 745,000 likes.
