Just days after the internet was rocked by the news that serial dater Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian had split, details are emerging as to why the couple called time on their seemingly promising relationship.

The pair had been dating for nine months and split without warning on Saturday.

Kardashian, who was previously married to Kanye 'Ye' West, met Davidson on the set of Saturday Night Live in October 2021, when she made a guest appearance on the show.

Now, a source has told Page Six that Davidson's "spontaneity" and the couple's age difference had been causing problems in their relationship.

"Pete is 28 and Kim is 41 - they are just in very different places at the moment," the insider said.

"Pete is totally spontaneous and impulsive and wants her to fly to New York, or wherever he is on a moment's notice.

"But Kim has four kids and it isn't that easy. She needs to focus on the kids."

That would also potentially rule out a reunion with West, with a source telling E!News "The divorce is still moving forward. They are happily co-parenting.".

The source also claimed Kardashian was "totally exhausted" by the relationship with Davidson and "other things going on in her life."

Their nine-month union wasn't always smooth-sailing; in February when the pair got together, Kardashian's ex, West, publicly posted threats against Davidson, labelling him "Skete". In one post to his social media, West, 45, warned there was a "Skete lurking in every dark ass alley waiting to destroy your family".

Kardashian and West were married for almost eight years, with their divorce officially granted in March.
