A release date and cast has been announced for Frozen Reo Māori.

The te reo version of the phenomenally popular 2013 Disney animated film will premiere in Tāmaki Makaurau on October 25 and screen in participating cinemas in Aotearoa and Australia from October 27. 

The film will celebrate four more dialects including Te Reo o Ngāi Tahu, Te Reo o Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Reo o Rangitāne and Te Reo o Te Tai Rāwhiti. 

The cast has also been announced for the animated version, drawing on talents who appeared in Shortland Street as well as the te reo version of Moana.

Jaedyn Randell, one of the stars of Moana Reo Māori, will play the free-spirited puhi ariki Princess Anna, with Awhimai Fraser (Ahikāroa, Shortland Street) playing Queen Elsa. 

Opera singer Kawiti Waetford is Kristoff, while James Tito (Whina, Mahana) is Prince Hans from the Southern Isles.

Pere Wihongi will be the irrepressible snowman, Olaf while entertainer and musician, while Rutene Spooner plays the role of eccentric Duke of Weselton.  

Producer and Director Tweedie Waititi, Producer Chelsea Winstanley, Reo Māori Expert Pānia Papa, Performance Advisor Rachel House and Music Director Rob Ruha are all working on Frozen Reo Maori.

During the film's original theatrical run, it was a commercial success, earning US$1.280 billion in worldwide box office revenue.
