Brad Pitt allegedly choked one of his children during a 2016 flight with then-wife Angelina Jolie, according to court documents obtained by US website Page Six.

Pitt is also accused of grabbing Jolie by the head during the altercation, according to the documents.

The flight's onboard incident led to Jolie filing for divorce from Pitt. While no charges were ever laid in the original case after an investigation, Jolie's attorneys have filed a new countersuit, revealing more details about the flight, and essentially asking Pitt's actions in September 2016 be investigated again.

The documents show Jolie has filed a countersuit in which she alleges Pitt "choked one of the children and struck another in the face" and "grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her."

"At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children," the documents also claim.

Jolie tried to pull Pitt off the children, which resulted in her being injured.

"To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane's seats, injuring Jolie's back and elbow," the documents allege.

"The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying," the documents revealed.

In September 2016, Pitt was investigated for alleged child abuse on the flight but no charges were ever laid in the case.

It was decided Pitt wouldn't be charged after discussions with the agent in charge of the case.

"It was agreed by all parties that criminal charges in this case would not be pursued due to several factors," the records stated.

While Page Six said Pitt was dismissive of Jolie's latest countersuit, her attorneys claim the FBI agent who investigated the 2016 incident had "probable cause to charge Pitt with a federal crime for his conduct that day".

The former couple who wed in August 2014 share six children: Maddox, 21, Pax, 18, Zahara, 17, Shiloh, 16, Vivienne, 14, and Knox, 14.
