The man behind 'The Rockafeller Skank', 'Praise You' and 'Right Here, Right Now' is to play six dates in New Zealand.

Fatboy Slim will take to the stage in Christchurch, Napier, Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown and Taupo from January 27, 2023.

The DJ, whose real name is Norman Cook, will also headline a new Auckland City festival which is to launch in summer 2023.

The Gardens Music Festival will take place on Sunday, January 29 in Victoria Park. It's also been revealed Cook will be doing a few special one-off intimate shows, one of which will be a special DJ set on top of the Sky Tower.

Cook holds the Guiness World Record for the most top 40 hits under different names, and as a solo act, he has won 10 MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards.

The DJ was last in New Zealand in 2019, when 20,000 fans saw him perform.

Prior to that, Fatboy Slim last performed in New Zealand at a sold-out headline show at Vector Arena in 2012.

Tickets go on sale from Wednesday October 19 at 10am.
