Jada Pinkett Smith will release a "no holds barred" memoir in which she will open up about her "complicated marriage" with Will Smith.

The as-yet-untitled work will be published by a subsidiary of HarperCollins Publishers which said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter the book will cover Jada's "difficult but riveting journey".

"Jada Pinkett Smith chronicles lessons learned in the course of a difficult but riveting journey - a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power," the publisher said.

"In crisis at age 40, Jada recounts the excruciating choices she was forced to make to redefine her life in every way."

There's no clarification on the "crisis" referred to, but it's widely believed to be in reference to the rocky period of Will and Jada's relationship when rumours of infidelity and separation were swirling.

In July 2020, Jada admitted to having an affair with R&B singer August Alsina while married.

The Smiths also came close to divorce in 2015 but pulled back from finalising a split, saying at the time: "We ride together. We die together. Bad marriage for life."
