Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and The Game will perform at Christchurch's Hagley Park and Auckland's Trusts Outdoors in 2023.

The hip-hop icons will be part of a show that organisers say will last over six hours, first in Christchurch on Friday, March 31 and then Auckland on Saturday, April 1.

Ice Cube is one of the most influential rappers of all time having been part of the legendary group N.W.A before going solo.

He produced 2015 film Straight Outta Compton about the group, which was Oscar nominated for Best Screenplay.

Ice Cube, whose real name is O'Shea Jackson Sr, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with N.W.A in 2016.

"I love performing in New Zealand. It's been 8 long years since my last visit and I can't wait to return for a couple of history making shows in 2023” he said.

Cube played the Raggamuffin festival in December 2014 at Auckland's Trusts Arena, along with Cypress Hill, who will be performing alongside him again in 2023.

The 'Hits from the Bong' rappers earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, sold more than 9 million albums, and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards during their career.

The Game was considered to be a driving force in bringing back the West Coast hip-hop scene into the mainstream during the early 2000s.

The international hip-hop heavyweights will be joined by homegrown New Zealand talent, which is yet to be announced.

Tickets go on sale from Wednesday, November 23.
