Mark Richardson puts new grocery delivery platform taking on the duopoly to the test

There's a new supermarket in town that's ready to take on the duopoly.

It's a cross between UberEats and a supermarket delivery service, promising super fast delivery of your groceries in as little as 30 minutes.

The supermarket, called Teddy, came from the te reo phrase 'kia tere', meaning hurry up.

Teddy has the basics all online, already delivering to central Auckland and Queenstown, with a store in Christchurch next on the list.

Co-founder Chaz Savage said Teddy satisfies an "insatiable desire for convenience". And while they haven't set out to "crush" the supermarket duopoly, they are focused on convenience for consumers.

Savage said the service aims to give customers "groceries in minutes", so Mark Richardson put them to the test.

While guest-hosting on The Project on Wednesday, Richardson ordered 10 items from the store - but did they come in time?

Watch the video above to see if Teddy passed the test.
