Ahead of their Six60 Saturdays gig in Rotorua on Saturday, the band has released new merchandise poking further fun at Rowan Dean, the Australian Sky News host who blasted their use of te reo on a tour poster.

"You asked, we delivered! Introducing our brand new limited edition 'SIXTY60 OR WHATEVER’ merch, available at our upcoming shows.

"Thanks for all the love and support," the band posted online, sharing imagery of the white T-shirts.

"Sixty60 or whatever" was how Dean referred to the band when he complained about their tour poster on his TV show.

On Tuesday, the band shared the footage on Instagram, with fans flooding their social media in support of the group's use of te reo Māori in their music and their shows.

It is the latest riposte from the band after Dean's rant on his show which talked of a "big push to be more inclusive of the Māori, the Māori language, the so-called 'iwi' at the moment".

Dean said a lot of "new language" was coming in, before showing a poster he claimed was sent to him by pop group "Sixty Sixty...or whatever".

"It's all in Māori, there's not a word of English anywhere in there."

On Wednesday, the band shared the footage, saying "Some guy had this to say about our tour poster and his free speech".

"We got called out for putting Te Reo on our poster, saying it's against free speech," they said.

"Six60 is all about bringing people together, no matter the language."

On Thursday, a limited number of $60.60 tickets were released for their remaining shows, in what was described by a band spokesperson as a "tongue-in-cheek" response.
