Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, has died aged 54

Lisa Marie Presley has died at the age of 54, the Associated Press (AP) is reporting.

The daughter of rock'n'roll legend Elvis Presley was earlier rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest and has subsequently died, her mother Priscilla Presley has confirmed.

In a statement published by AP, Priscilla said: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us".

"She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known."

After being taken to hospital earlier on Friday, TMZ reported the singer was in an induced coma and had been fitted with a temporary pacemaker.

Earlier on Friday (NZ ime), Priscilla posted an image of the pair on Instagram.

"My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital," she said. "She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time."

The daughter of Elvis had attended the Golden Globes on Tuesday (US time) this week, where she watched actor Austin Butler win an award for his portrayal of her father in Baz Luhrmann's film Elvis.

The 54-year-old singer and songwriter has three children, including actress Riley Keough.

She was previously married to singer Michael Jackson and actor Nicholas Cage, among others.

Lisa Marie inherited her father's estate at the age of 25, which at the time was estimated to be worth about US$100 million.

She released three albums, two of which cracked the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
