Cyclone Gabrielle: Stan Walker, Fat Freddy's Drop among artists playing Auckland relief concert

A second relief concert is to be held next month in one of the areas affected by the recent floods and Cyclone Gabrielle.

Stan Walker, Fat Freddy's Drop, Troy Kingi, Che Fu, Three Houses Down, Ria Hall, Drax Project, Anna Coddington, Muroki, Bella Kalolo-Suraj and King Kapisi are all to take part in the free concert, which will be held at Parr's Park in West Auckland on March 25.

Maranga Rise Up Aotearoa is being broadcast live on Māori TV from 12pm to 7pm on the day.

Guest presenters will include Moana Maniapoto, Matai Rangi Smith, Stacey Morrison, Neil Waka, Peata Melbourne, new Newshub Nation presenter Julian Wilcox, Luke Bird and Marcia Hopa.

It's hoped the event will offer some hope and aroha to the communities affected across the motu.

"We cannot fix what is badly broken. But music can help us feel together in painful times, unite through action and make a difference for others, even just for a moment," said Maniapoto.

The first cyclone relief concert was held in Christchurch last Friday with the likes of Lorde, L.A.B and Neil Finn all playing at an event which was hosted by Newshub's Mike McRoberts.

It's believed that event raised around $200,000 for the disaster relief funds.
