Counting Crows cancel Wellington concert of Butter Miracle Tour due to illness

'Mr Jones' hitmakers The Counting Crows have cancelled their Wellington tour date of Monday, March 27 due to "illness".

A statement from promoter Live Nation on Monday morning apologised for inconvenience to ticket holders who were due to head to the capital's Michael Fowler Centre for the latest show on the band's Butter Miracle Tour.

In further bad news for fans of the band a rescheduled date would "not be possible", the statement said.

"Counting Crows and Live Nation share the disappointment of ticket holders at this late news," said Live Nation.

"Unfortunately, it will not be possible to reschedule the Wellington performance during the current tour schedule, therefore full refunds will be issued to all ticket holders via their original payment method."

The band played Christchurch's Town Hall on Thursday, March 23 and Auckland's Spark Arena on Saturday, March 25.

In 2021, Billboard Magazine rated the band in its top 10 Greatest Of All Time: Adult Alternative 25th Anniversary Chart.

The Counting Crows released their newest record Butter Miracle, featuring the single 'Elevator Boots', in April 2021.
