AM forced off air by fire alarm, show ends early

Wednesday's episode of AM was cut short after a fire alarm forced the show to go off air midway through a segment with presenter William Waiirua.

Waiirua was talking about the upcoming junior rugby season on location in Ponsonby, Auckland when the incident occurred.

As Waiirua was challenging several kids to stop him scoring a try, the show suddenly cut back to hosts Melissa Chan-Green and Ryan Bridge, who looked visibly nervous in the studio.

"Sorry, William," Bridge said.

"We've got a fire alarm going off at the building here at Three in Auckland," he told viewers, before the show cut quickly to adverts and then to the show Yard Crashers.

A fire spokesperson said the callout was a false alarm.
