Disney on Ice returns to New Zealand to help celebrate Mickey Mouse's 100 Years of Wonder

Disney on Ice is returning to New Zealand to help Mickey Mouse celebrate his centenary.

The show Disney On Ice presents 100 Years of Wonder will play at Auckland's Spark Arena from August 4 to August 6 before heading to the South Island, where it will play Christchurch Arena from August 11 to August 13.

It's the first time the ice-based spectacular has been in New Zealand since 2019.

Publicity for the show promises it will include not only world-class skating but also high-flying acrobatics and stunts.

The story will concentrate on Mickey Mouse as he "embarks on a quest with pals as they follow Captain Hook’s treasure map for clues to find Tinker Bell after he attempts to capture her magic".

The show will also feature "Moana sailing across the ice as she bravely saves her island from the fiery wrath of Te Ka" and Disney promises "the entire crowd will sing-along with Elsa in the icy world of Frozen".

Appearances by characters from Pixar's Coco and Toy Story are also part of the show.

Tickets go on sale from May 16.
