US President Joe Biden has come in for criticism for what many have labelled an inappropriate way he put his hands on actress Eva Longoria.
Longoria was at the White House for a screening of her directorial debut Flamin Hot on Thursday US time, and as the President embraced the former Desperate Housewives star after the screening he let his hands linger on her waist a little too long.
Longoria then grabbed his hands and held them in front of her.
Biden, who is 80, also joked he had known Longoria since she was 17.
"We’ve known each other a long time," Mr Biden told the crowd.
"She was 17, I was 40," he said, getting a mixed reception from the crowd, the New York Post reported.
In fact Longoria would have been 7 when Biden was 40, he was actually 50 when they first met.
Social media picked up the embrace, with many saying the President lingered for too long.
"WHAT A CREEP!!!"
"Eva Longoria had to grab Biden's hands to keep him from groping her at the White House last night," one person tweeted.
"GROSS! Eva Longoria had to move Biden's hands to keep him from groping her at the White House tonight. I hope these people are happy with the creep they support," another tweeted.
"Biden makes disturbing comment from The White House about how long he’s known Eva Longoria: “She was 17, I was 40.” And then he slowly slides his hands across her body as they hug. And the crowd full of Democrats just laugh," tweeted Mark Vargas a columnist with Newsmax.
Flamin Hot is about a Mexican-American janitor called Richard Martinez who worked at the company Frito-Lay. He claimed to have invented the Flamin Hot Cheeto for the company, although this is disputed, and he rose to the level of executive.
