Dame Lynda and Jools Topp are to make an appearance in Dunedin, one of their first public performances since their 40th Anniversary Tribute Concert which took place in November last year in Auckland.

The Twins have revealed on social media fans in Dunedin will be able to see them on July 30 for "a very special one-off appearance." at a FIFA event.

The news was shared on social media on Friday.

"Hi everyone," the message began.

"As you are all aware, Lynda and Jools are seldom performing now due to their health - although in breaking news they are performing at the FIFA Fan Festival in Dunedin on July 30th for a very special one-off appearance," a post on their official Facebook page said.

The announcement promised "more news on this soon."

"The twins are chuffed to see so many warm and supportive messages - and wish they could respond to each & everyone of you."

In March this year, Dame Lynda Topp said she and her sister Dame Jools Topp were "doing ok" as they continued their battle against breast cancer and revealed Jools had started a new treatment.

"We're both doing ok, like my mum says 'you can't kill a weed,'" she said.

"We're both dealing with issues. Jools is on a new treatment, it's not chemo, it's something a bit newer and exciting, so she's dealing with that."

In March 2022, the Twins told their fans they were both dealing with breast cancer.

Jools was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2006 at the age of 48 but overcame it after her left breast was removed and weeks of gruelling chemotherapy.

However, Jools said at the time, she began to feel unwell again in 2021 before shortly after Lynda found out she also had breast cancer.
