New Zealand journalist Dan Wootton is under investigation by the publishers of UK tabloid The Sun and the Daily Mail Online amid allegations he inappropriately offered colleagues thousands of pounds for sexual material.
The GB News presenter was the centre of claims made online last week by his ex-boyfriend Alex Truby.
Truby claimed Wootton used a pseudonym and offered individuals money in return for their filming of sex acts.
A statement from the Daily Mail's owners, DMG Media, confirmed they were currently investigating the claims.
"We are aware of the allegations and are looking into them," a statement provided to Newshub said.
The Guardian reported The Sun newspaper's owner News UK as saying they were investigating as well.
"We are looking into the allegations made in recent days. We are not able to make any further comment at this stage," a statement provided to the UK newspaper said. Newshub has asked for a copy of this statement from News UK.
Many of Truby's allegations relate to claims during Wootton's employment by the Sun newspaper.
Wootton spoke publicly about the claims made by his ex-boyfriend during his GB News show on Tuesday night (UK time.)
He claimed he was the victim of a smear campaign, saying it was "a witch-hunt".
"Who doesn't have regrets?," he said.
"I have made errors of judgement in the past but criminal allegations against me are completely untrue. It is impossible to defend yourself against thousands of trolls."
