A royal expert has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan are "devastated" after their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan was snubbed by the prestigious Emmy Awards.

Despite the show racking up a record 81.55 million viewing hours globally in its first week of release, the project failed to score any Emmy nominations when they were announced earlier this week.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward claimed earlier this week that the couple are "devastated" about being left out of the award show nods.

"But of course [the couple] will not show it," Seward told The Mirror.

However, the couple did get a win as the series was nominated for the Hollywood Critics Awards in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.

"Meghan and Harry will concentrate in this and make it a positive, however irritated they might be not to be in the Emmy nominations," Seward said.

She said instead of delivering personal stuff, the couple should focus on "more serious work" and people will be interested.

In the six-part docuseries, Prince Harry and Meghan delivered numerous accusations against what they portrayed as a tone-deaf institution that was unconcerned about their emotional well-being and prepared for them to suffer.

These included claims the pair were blocked from seeing Queen Elizabeth II after they decided to step down from royal duties, that media coverage caused Meghan's miscarriage and of institutional racism among the Royal Family.
