Jason Momoa spends 44th birthday in Queenstown hot tub as it snows

Jason Momoa has thanked thousands of fans for sending him birthday wishes while chilling out in icy, mid-winter Queenstown.

Posting on Instagram, the Fast X actor uploaded a video of himself walking through snow in Queenstown before getting into a hot tub with friends.

"It's snowing baby!" he shouted while getting into the warm water semi-naked.

The video begins with Momoa walking out into the freshly falling snow and asking: "What the hell's going on?" as the flakes fall heavily around him.

"Never in my life, 44 years, did I ever get in a hot tub and it's snowing baby," Momoa said.

He shared a video of snow-capped islands in another post, saying "one of my favorite places on earth - South Island of New Zealand."

Momoa used it as an opportunity to deliver a message about his passion for ending single-use plastic, which he said was his "birthday wish".

In a follow up Instagram Story post, the Aquaman actor showed off more shots of the snowy vista, while urging people to send love to his friend Travis Snyder, who he said "needed it".

Snyder met Momoa in Hawaii shortly after he was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2015 and the Game of Thrones star has been using his social media following to get people to sign up to a registry to see if they are a bone marrow match for his friend.
