Kiwi actor Morgana O'Reilly is to join the cast of the third season of the critically acclaimed series The White Lotus

US trade website Deadline announced the Housebound and Neighbours star would be part of the new line-up but didn't reveal what role she would be playing.

She joins the previously announced cast of Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Tayme Thapthimthong.

It has been announced the third season of the Mike White show would be set in and around Thailand, including Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok.

O'Reilly herself hasn't commented on the casting news, but on her Instagram Story she shared an image of a congratulatory message posted online by her mother.

White, the creator of the show, has previously said this season will be "bigger" and "crazier" than before.

"It's going to be a supersized White Lotus," he told Deadline in November.

"It's going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don't know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that's a good thing."

The first season of The White Lotus, which premiered July 2021 and was set in Hawaii, received 20 Emmy nominations across 13 categories and won 10.

Its second season, set in Sicily, scored 23 Emmy nominations.

The upcoming season, which streams on Neon in New Zealand, is expected to air in 2025.
