Review: Force of Nature: The Dry 2 combines strong casting with brooding visceral visuals

Author Jane Harper's book-to-screen adaptation The Dry was a big hit - so it's a movie-making no-brainer to bring her next book to cinemas and it's just done exactly that complete with Eric Bana back in the lead role.

The wait is over Jane Harper fans - the follow-up to The Dry has arrived and it's called Force of Nature: The Dry 2.

The marvellous Eric Bana returns as federal agent Aaron Falk, this time swapping the Aussie outback for the Aussie bush, helping the search for a missing hiker.

Five women walked into the bush on a team-building retreat but only four of them walked out.

But what business does a federal agent have in a missing person's case? How does Falk's past feed into the narrative? And what are these women hiding and why?

For fans of the books, this faithful feature adaptation should do the trick nicely - the strong casting complete with the return of Bana in the central role and the brooding visceral visuals bring plenty for Kiwi audiences to connect with.

Four stars.
