Police investigating how a 17-month-old boy was seriously injured in Oamaru say it appears to have been a tragic accident.
They are still making enquiries, but don’t believe the incident to be suspicious.
The boy was hospitalised on Tuesday and remains in a critical condition.
Police are working with his family and support services have been put in place to assist them.
A scene examination was completed yesterday.
